About ARIC’s Work

Recognizing that migrants are making their ways to our North Country region, and recognizing that when they arrive they become the responsibilities of our communities, we have created ARIC’s network to accomplish four goals:

1. To share information among the collaborators on how best to welcome the migrants who are arriving here and to help them move from surviving to thriving among us. Sharing information avoids having to re-invent the wheel.

2. To develop financial resources that can be rapidly available to provide sometimes urgently needed funds in support of the arriving or detained migrants: funds for legal assistance, housing, food, clothing, transportation, medical/dental/psychological support.

3. To develop a powerful voice to advocate for the integration of our new neighbors, pointing out the current data that shows how such integration makes our New York communities not only better places for migrants and refugees, but better communities because of them.

4. To protect and defend those of our immigrant neighbors who are legitimately here making their new lives among us.
